How did McDonalds help spread Cultural imperialism to other countries?
McDonald's as we all now is a part of the fast food chain and seems to be the most popular restaurant out them all. For years it has served delicious food to customers that need some food on the go. However, with all the success that its had, McDonald's has now spread across the other half of the world. A country like China has really embraced the newly acquired fast food phenomena and by doing so they opened up to "cultural imperialism" (Watson p. 342). This is not the same concept as imperialism but it seems to be more of an expression saying that countries all around seem to be converging into one. Another reason why it has become so popular in China is because they're reaching out to the younger generations. With the ever growing population in China, it makes the most sense to reach out to the younger kids because they will want to experience a meal thats cultural and different to what they are accustomed too.
